Tok Tokkie Walking Trail

Speke says – “This is a one of kind experience and we couldn’t recommend it more. The accommodation is basic but sleeping under the stars is the most magical experience and having a whole support crew that takes care of all chores and makes everything run like clockwork is fantastic. Superb!”

The Tok Toki walking trail is a truly wonderful immersive experience the is operated over two nights/three days within one of the largest private privately owned concessions in Africa. Walking through the strikingly beautiful Namibrand you can expect to see a variety of wildlife including springbok, kudu and ostrich as well as some of the smaller species like the barking geckos, dune crickets and of course the tok tokkie beetle which the trail is named after. Over the course of the three days, you will walk around 22km in total so this not a daily strenuous hike, although a certain level of fitness is required, but more of a pleasant walk with plenty of time to stop for long lunches and to appreciate the wildlife and vast stunning scenery.

Logistics are taken care of by the support crew who will take all of your belongings to the next camp at the beginning of each day meaning you only need to walk with a daypack carrying only what you need. This crew also set up camp for your arrival including hot bucket style showers and open-air toilets. Sleeping arrangements are on raised camp beds with comfortable bedding and one of the most amazing parts of the trails is sleeping under a billion stars. In the evening a campfire is lit, and you can enjoy a delicious three-course meal prepared by the trail chef. Group sizes are between two and up to a maximum of eight so this is a small group experience or, if you prefer, you can book this exclusively.
