Kono Kono is a modern and stylish option with a fantastic location on the western tip of the Michamvi peninsular overlooking the stunning Chakwa Bay. The huge beach area has powder soft sand and is dotted with palm trees making this a very idyllic and beautiful setting. The communal lodge, perched on a low cliff overlooking the beach and sea, is a huge wood and thatch building that is open at the front to afford the most stunning views. Here you will find the bar and comfortable lounge as well as the dining area although meals are often served al-fresco on the pool terrace. Just in front of the main lodge is the stunning infinity pool and lounger area. Down some steps you will find the beach and beach bar that serves drinks and snacks to your sun loungers! There is free WiFi throughout the lodge and also a lovely, raised spa within the gardens that is fantastic and offers a wide range of treatments.

The 26 villas, plus six ‘Isaraya’ luxury over water villas, come in a variety of categories including sea view, beach pavilion, two-bedroom sea view, garden view, family rooms, and the six newly built over water villas. All of the rooms are a very decent size and come with air-conditioning, ceiling fans, satellite TV, mini bar, electric safe, and free WiFi as well as a pleasant living room, en-suite bathrooms and a private garden with plunge pool. The room design is simple but beautiful with thatch roofs and white stone washed walls, with exposed interior beams, and wooden flooring, very light, stylish and in keeping with the setting.

Family rooms can accommodate two adults and two children, over two rooms and the one-bedroom villas have more than enough space for an extra double or twin beds, on request. The beach pavilion sleeps a maximum of two guests on a super-king-sized-bed and is located directly on the beach. The new over-the-water villas, reached by a jetty from the beach, are a first for Zanzibar, and are absolutely stunning. This five-star accommodation option comes with all of the amenities that you would expect from a high-end accommodation option with the addition of a private deck with sun loungers and a plunge pool and even your own private steps into the ocean. These do come at a cost however but if you want to push the boat this could well be the place to do it!
