The only way to get to Fundu Lagoon is by light aircraft followed by a speedboat trip, so if you are looking for remote then it may not get any better for you. This is one of the most famous properties in Tanzania and has gained a reputation as one of the best beach locations in Tanzania. The communal areas here include jetty with an open-air bar, the perfect place to watch the sunset with your favourite drink in hand and a fantastic infinity pool, lunch bar, and sun lounger area set among the forest with fantastic sea views. 

There is a further bar and dining area, although meals are often served on the beautiful beach that spans the entire property. Finally, there is a spa offering a range of treatments and a yoga platform overlooking the ocean. There are a range of activities available at Fundu but most notably there is a PADI 5-star dive centre that offers dives and courses to some of the best diving in the world. There are also regular trips to the nearby Misali island, an amazing private island with some of the best beaches in Africa.

The 18 rooms here are split into three categories, the standard room, either hillside or beachfront, the suite, either beach or jungle suite and the superior suite. The rooms are reminiscent of safari accommodation with a canvas under thatch construction and facilities within all of the rooms include a mini bar, electricity, safe, ceiling fans and en-suite facilities including a shower. The standard hillside rooms have spectacular sea views and a wooden deck with chairs and sun loungers while the standard beachfront rooms are on the beach with sun loungers and chairs on a private check. The suites offer more space inside and out including a private plunge pool as well as a raised, shaded deck area with is perfect for daytime lounging and relaxing. Finally, the huge superior suites are larger again with an expansive decked area with private plunge and two-story comfortable lounge. These are located on the beach but surrounded by thick vegetation which offers excellent privacy.
