Maweninga Camp
- 4 Star
- Best from June to November
- Comfortable rooms, breath-taking hilltop location
Perched high on a granite rock and overlooking Lake Manyara National Park, this lovely camp benefits from being located within Tarangire National Park. The main lodge is home to a restaurant and bar, all on wooden decking with a makuti thatched roof, as well as a campfire area and granite viewing area – perfect for star gazing and spotting wildlife.
The 16 large canvas tents are built on individual raised wooden platforms and all feature an open terrace with stunning views, a dressing room, and private en-suite bathrooms with flush toilets and showers. One of the great things about this camp is the eco credentials which include the whole camp being powered by solar energy, including the hot water supply to the tents. Water is sourced from rainwater and accounts for 50% of usage with the remaining requirements sourced from a local borehole. The camp also employs a large percentage of local people including Masai warriors to guard the camp from some of the larger residents of the park.
