Mushara Bush Camp, part of the Mushara Collection of four properties, is one of our favourites for the east of Etosha. Situated a mere 10 kilometers from the entrance/exit of Etosha and ensconced within the exclusive 25km² Mushara reserve, this exceptional retreat offers an incredible experience. During your time at Mushara Bush Camp, there is a wide range of activities available for all guests. These focus on game drives in the Etosha National Park with excellent guides that can skilfully unveil the hidden treasures and diverse wildlife of Namibia – all these activities can be arranged as a morning or afternoon safari activity.

Mushara Bush Camps Lodges

At the lodge’s core lies a spacious thatched building featuring an open bar, comfy lounge, a crackling open fire, and a dining area, although, meals are often served on the gravel veranda just outside. A short stroll unveils a large pool area with sun loungers, including a shallow pool for the little ones. Along with this, a playground adds to the family-friendly feel, all within the secure confinement of a fenced camp, keeping larger wildlife at bay.

Custom En-Suite Tents

There are 16 tents at Mushara, these are not the traditional tents you may be picturing. Each custom-made structure is a permanent fixture made from canvas, wood, and locally sourced limestone used to keep the tents cool from the high temperatures of the day. The tents boast a spacious veranda overlooking the private Mashara concession providing the perfect place to relax and watch the world of wildlife go by. Each luxurious tent at Mushara Bush Camp includes a double bed adorned with a mosquito net and a private bathroom. Four of the tented accommodations are set up with family travelling in mind featuring a sofa bed, perfect for 2 children.

Meals and Cuisine at Mushara Bush Camp

Namibian cuisine is a delightful fusion of flavours, reflecting the country’s rich cultural tapestry and unique culinary heritage. When visiting Mushara Bush Camp, you cannot miss the opportunity to try the renowned biltong, a type of cured and dried meat, often enjoyed as a snack. Another culinary gem is potjiekos which showcases a medley of meats and vegetables infused with aromatic spices. Namibia’s German influence is evident in dishes like sausages and pretzels, certainly ones you won’t want to pass up tasting during your stay.

In terms of the meals to expect during your stay, although “camp” is in the name of the accommodation option, you won’t be cooking food over a gas stove or campfire. Guests will receive three hearty meals a day from a buffet to full English breakfast finishing with a three-course evening meal.

Wildlife You May See

At Mushara Bush Camp, prepare to be mesmerised by the wildlife you will encounter in the nearby Etosha National Park. The camp’s surroundings showcase some of the most common and rarest wildlife species. The area is home to elephants – some of which are the largest in the world, the endangered black rhino, and you may even see leopards whilst on your holiday. More common encounters include warthogs and antelopes often venturing onto the camps grounds. Amongst other animals you will see here are lions, giraffes, and an array of different types of birds, over 300 species to be exact!
