Muchenje
- 4 Star
- Best from April to October
- Well-established favourite with incredible views and large range of safari activities
Muchenje enjoys incredible views over the sweeping floodplains and river – the location high on the escarpment above, gives an almost aerial feel to the surroundings. Though the lodge is only 45 minutes from Kasane, it feels entirely removed from the bustle of the main Chobe gate area.
The lodge has a welcoming cosy feel that encourages guests to feel at home after only a few minutes – and this is promoted by the owners who have decorated throughout in a simple, comfortable style designed to allow guests to relax and enjoy the facilities.
There are 11 thatched cottages, including one split level family cottage which has the child beds up on a mezzanine floor accessed by a sturdy ladder – a huge hit with younger travellers. Each of the standard cottages has a ensuite bedroom, and air-conditioning is a welcome addition, along with celing fa, tea and coffee station and mini bar.
The central lodge area boasts panoramic views, and gusts can enjoy these from the swimming pool or firepit area. We like that the main area is well positioned for breezes to pass through, making it a refreshing place for breakfast , lunch and dinner.
Activities from Muchenje include game drives and river cruises, and unusually for the Chobe area, short night drives and bush walks are also possible, meaning you can experience many forms of safari exploration during your stay.
