Chobe Under Canvas
- 4 Star
- Best from April to October
- Premium under-canvas option inside the park which rotates locations to maximise wildlife sightings
Chobe Under Canvas offers visitors the chance to experience Chobe at it’s most wild, whilst also enjoying high levels of service and accommodation – this is camping at its most luxury!
The camp is semi-permanent, meaning it moves location every 4-5 days, and it will appeal for those looking to experience a more traditional mobile camping experience. Each location the camp is exclusive, meaning it is also an ideal option for those looking to get away from the crowds.
The camp has 5 spacious tents in total, all of which have a maximum of 10 guests. Each meru tent has a double or twin beds, ensuite bathroom with separate flush toilet and outdoor bucket shower, and even comes with a private butler to ensure you have everything you need – such as steaming hot water to fill your shower. As each location is unfenced, you’ll spot wildlife paths meandering through the camp, and may even have wildlife passing through during your stay.
The main area has a small campfire situated a short way infront, where guests can gather in the early morning or later evening. There is a large main tent which provides dining facilities, pre-dinner drinks or an area to enjoy the downtime between safari adventures – there is a small library and selection of board games. Everyone eats meals together, either in the main tent or alternatively some nights, a table will be set up closer to the fire for al-fresco dinners under the stars.
Activities include game drives and river cruises (the river cruises depart in the afternoon), and for guests staying two consecutive nights or more there is the chance to head out on the camp’s specially adapted photography boat, called the Pangolin. This boat is equipped with a camera for each passenger and a professional photographer who will happily impart their knowledge to give guests the chance to get some incredible photos.
