- A stay out of the ordinary onboard a luxurious houseboat with small tender boats for close up wildlife viewing and fantastic service
The Zambezi Queen offers the height of luxury within the Chobe River region, and with traversing rights of over 25km of the river, the everchanging scenery provides a wonderful backdrop to an incredible stay.
The top deck of the boat is the communal area, where guests enjoy high-quality meals, service and drink, all of which are included in the stay (some premium drinks incur an additional charge). There are several seating areas including a lounge area with seats positioned to showcase the views of the river, plus a bar which offers a wonderful selection of South African wines and an extensive cocktail menu. We like that the dining area features 270 degree views, so your wildlife viewing can continue during your mealtimes – think full-cooked breakfasts, a sumptuous buffet lunch and a la carte dinners.
The boat has 14 suites including four luxury suites which have larger wraparound balconies. Each is decorated in light colours and have full length shutters for privacy and to protect the rooms from the heat of the African sun if needed. Please note that each room only have showers, no baths.
The Zambezi Queen offers both two and three day itineraries, depending on how long you want to leave the rest of the world behind. As well as non-stop wildlife viewing from the boat, you can also get closer up sightings using the boat’s smaller tender boats, which provide a fantastic perspective as you look back up at wildlife on the banks. There is also a specially appointed photography boat for those wanting to focus on photography in particular. Other activities include fishing, birding and you can also take a tender to visit the local community too.
Please note that the access point for the houseboat is via Kasane, but you will complete border formalities at the Namibian border prior to boarding.
