- Spacious canvas sided tents with river views, located on a private concession famous for wild dog and big cat sightings
Located in the Kwando concession in the Linyanti Wetlands, Lagoon Camp overlooks the Kwando River, surrounded by Ebony and Marula trees. The Linyanti Wetlands region is well known for the large numbers of lion and elephant, and in addition, visitors to the area have long been enticed by the possibility of seeing wild dog, who frequently den nearby to the camp.
Lagoon has only 9 large canvas and thatch rooms, with a light airy feel and located to make the most of wildlife spotting opportunities – elephant and hippo provide a frequent backdrop to time spent between safari activities both from the main area, and when viewing from the private verandahs, or even the bathrooms (all of which have indoor and outdoor showers). The family tent has two bedrooms with a shared bathroom.
Lagoon’s communal facilities have been thoughtfully considered tot blend comfort with the natural beauty of the surrounding wilderness. The camp features a spacious lounge area where guests can relax and enjoy uninterrupted views of the Kwando River and surrounding wildlife. The open-plan design, with comfortable seating and a mix of natural textures, creates a welcoming atmosphere ideal for socialising after a day’s adventures.
Adjacent to the lounge, the camp’s dining area offers both indoor and outdoor settings for meals, with a focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients. In front is the camp’s plunge pool, perfect for cooling off during the heat of the day while taking in the sights and sounds of the nearby river. For guests looking to unwind further, a well-stocked bar offers a range of beverages, providing the ideal spot for evening sundowners.
The camp also features an intimate fire pit area where guests can gather for pre-dinner drinks or storytelling under the stars.
In common with the rest of the Kwando portfolio, the emphasis is very much on the wildlife, with game drives accompanied by both a guide and tracker, and boat cruises on the river also a highlight. Bush walks and fishing are also possible in season.
