Planet Baobab is the only lodge in the Makgadikgadi Pans region which is accessible by road, and as such, is a real favourite of ours at Speke. The rooms are homely and certainly more basic than anywhere else you will stay on your trip – however, the activities and experiences on offer are so very different to anywhere else in Botswana that we think a stay here is well worth the more basic facilities.

Accommodation is comprised of a number of simply appointed Bakalanga huts, all of which are inspired by the style of traditional Botswana homes. All these huts are ensuite and are decorated with different artwork. There are also several Baobab huts on site, which have shared bathroom facilities with the attached campsite. The Bakalanga huts, though simple, each have their own private veranda for downtime between activities, and access to the communal swimming pool – very welcome in the hotter months.
