Ilala lodge is one of our to-go choices for good reason in the Victoria Falls area. This charming family-run hotel offers comfort and luxury surrounded by beautiful gardens and green spaces. The lodge is less than a 10-minute walk from the Victoria Falls and close to the centre of town as well so, if you are happy to walk, this avoids transfers. The lodge is so close that it is possible to see the spray and hear the thunder of the water.

 

The communal building is colonial in style and decorated in interesting curios, antiques and prints. Here you will find a very comfortable lounge with plenty of seating and free WiFi. There are two restaurants here, one called the Palm which offers indoor or al fresco elegant dining from an a la carte menu and the other is called Kubika which serves local delicacies including plains game meat. There is also a cocktail bar, right next to the swimming pool that serves snacks all day.

 

There are 34 rooms in total spread out over two floors with rooms downstairs opening out to the lodge’s beautiful gardens while the upper floor rooms all have a balcony. There are four room categories here including standard rooms, standard suites, deluxe rooms and executive suites. The standard rooms are located on the lower floor looking out to the gardens, the deluxe rooms are located in the west wing and ooze old world charm and a private patio where can enjoy the sunrise.

 

Each room comes equipped with air-conditioning, complimentary toiletries, mini bar, writing desk, free WiFi, overhead fans, satellite tv’s and tea and coffee making facilities. Each room is ensuite with a toilet and shower and some rooms come with a bath.
