Spitzkoppen Lodge

Speke says – “Often overlooked (as staying here can add a night or two into an itinerary), for us, the high standards of service and food are extras – the true luxury is in experiencing this iconic area of Namibia and we couldn’t recommend it more.”

Spitzkoppen Lodge is located in a spectacular desert region, in its own private reserve, between Swakopmund and the start of southern Damaraland. The lodge itself is set at the foot of the stunning Spitzkoppen Mountain with the area strewn with house sized boulders and Kopje’s, scenically out of this world! There are a wide range of activities here including guided and unguided mountain bike trails, horse riding, rock climbing, photographic tours, and visits to archaeological sites of interest which are fascinating.

The communal buildings and chalets are linked by raised wooden walkways. At the lowest level there is a meeting area for activities and toilet, above that is the reception and gift shop and the top level is the comfortable lounge, dining room, and bar. Just outside is a decked area, firepit and a small but delightful swimming pool built into the rocks with sun loungers, the perfect spot for relaxing and taking in the views. WiFi is available within the main building but as this is very remote this can be temperamental.

The 15 chalets, including two chalets that combine for families, are all raised on wooden stilts with a wooden floor and walls, glass windows and a pointed canvas roof. Within the chalets you will find a mini safe, standing fan, tea and coffee making facilities and twin beds. Ensuite facilities include a double washbasin, toilet, and shower. Outside is a private deck with comfortable chairs that afford stunning views over the reserve.
