Canyon Roadhouse

Speke says – “Even though the lodge is not closer to the canyon this is still one of the best options for the area due to the standard of accommodation, facilities and services on site. We really like it and feel a visit to the area is not complete without at least calling in here.”

Canyon Roadhouse is a quirky and fun option for the area and offers a decent standard of accommodation and facilities in the style of an old American diner. The lodge itself is around 25km from the canyon, so it not the closest, but not too far either. Within the main building, you will find a bar and restaurant, which is filled with old cars, trucks and various other finds from history.

There is also a large shop and an ATM, which can be very handy, as well as a patio for dining in nice weather. The swimming pool and sun lounger area is just a short walk from the main lodge and finally there is a petrol station on site. WiFi is also available throughout the main building. There are a number of activities available including morning or afternoon nature drives, self-guided walking trails and sundowner drives.

The 24 rooms, including two family rooms, are comfortable and nicely decorated, in keeping with the theme of the lodge. Within the rooms you will find twin beds, a small table and chair, tea and coffee-making facilities, mini safe, a low armchair and air-conditioning. En-suite facilities include a washbasin, toilet and shower. There are a number of options for families including interconnecting rooms, one triple and one family room sleeping up to four.
