Eagles Nest
- 3 Star
- Best from April to October
- Simple, isolated and brilliant!
Eagles Nest is a remote and rustic option within the Klein-Aus reserve, a stunning semi-desert area with wide plains and mountains in the background. Eagles Nest is a sister property to the Desert Horse Inn and is run from there. This gives the flexibility to use the facilities at Desert Horse Inn including the bar, restaurant, and swimming pool. As such there is no main, or central building at Eagles Nest and meals are not offered here. Activities are arranged through the Desert Horse Inn and include drives to the horses water hole, sundowner and scenic drives, self-guided walking trails and mountain bike trails.
There are cooking facilities in all seven chalets with a kitchenette that has a gas stove, fridge and cutlery, crockery, and utensils. There is also a barbeque, and you can opt for breakfast and/or barbeque pack (payable locally). The breakfast pack includes a platter of fruit, bread, muffins and eggs and the barbeque pack has plenty of choice to include different meats, vegetables, salads, and a desert. The breakfast and barbeque packs are a really fun and different way to enjoy meals and the feedback that we get is always positive. Each chalet also has an honesty bar, so you don’t need to take drinks with you if you don’t want to.
The seven chalets, including three twin and four triple rooms, are individually decorated and spread out over a boulder-strewn hillside. They are made of stone with rustic fittings and come with twin beds, a lounge, dining table and chairs, a kitchenette, and ensuite facilities including a toilet and shower. Outside there is a terrace with a table and chairs and a barbeque.
