Camp Kipwe
- 4 Star
- Best from April to October
- Stunning setting, great staff and service
Kipwe is one of our favourites for the area, its unique design, igloo style bungalows, seamlessly blend into the stunning surroundings. The location is also very good, not far from the key highlights of the area and guided activities from the lodge (payable locally) are particularly good here with highlights including guided nature drives in search of desert adapted elephant and rhino.
The main area, up some steps, is raised on wooden decking, where you will find a very comfortable lounge and dining area although meals are often served in the large open-fronted dining area with separate balcony. There is also small gift shop, reception area and, tucked away between two rocks, the small but fantastic swimming pool. Finally, there is a beautiful viewpoint, reached by foot, where guests can enjoy snacks and sundowners.
Each of the nine circular bungalows overlook a dry riverbed and face the sunset, superb views and the most magnificent way to wake up. They are beautifully decorated in earthy tones and come with a double or twin beds, a shady veranda to enjoy the breath-taking views and en-suite facilities including an open-air shower. There is also one suite at Kipwe with a large double room, lounge with satellite tv, air-conditioning, and huge bathroom area with enormous bath which is very impressive.
