Doro Nawas
- 4.5 Star
- Best from April to October
- Stunning all round with a beautiful setting
Doro Nawas has a commanding position on top of a rocky hill overlooking the flood plains of the dry Huab river and is certainly one of the most impressive options for the area. The location is excellent for visiting the highlights of the area and the lodge is well known for having some of the best guides in Namibia. Activities here are varied with cultural visits, guided nature walks, geological excursions and wildlife and scenic drives with tracking desert adapted elephant and rhino being particularly popular.
The main lodge is an impressive castle-like structure where you will find a bar, large comfortable lounge, open fire with seating, dining area, shady viewing deck and outdoor dining area and a beautiful swimming pool area with sun loungers and beanbags, the perfect place to cool off, relax and enjoy the endless views.
The 16 huge chalets, including one family unit, are all built on stone bases and positioned in a circle at the bottom on the hill. All are thatch roof with canvas sides and come equipped with either a double or twin beds, ceiling fan, tea and coffee making facilities, comfortable wicker chairs, writing desk and en-suite facilities include a toilet, twin washbasin and a shower. Outside you will find a large veranda with an outdoor shower and fantastic views. At night the beds can be rolled out onto the veranda to allow for a night under the stars which we highly recommend.
