Nkasa Lupala Tented Lodge
- 4 Star
- Best from April to October
- Small camp in a lovely spot, great service
Nkasa Lupala is a lovely small lodge in a beautiful part of the Caprivi Strip within the Wuparo conservancy and a short drive from the Nkasa Rupara National Park. The lodge itself is set on the banks of a channel of the Kwando-Linyanti River and is the perfect base for exploring the area. Activities focus and day and night game drives into the Nkasa Rupara par, as well as the conservancy, where you will see a wide variety of birdlife as well as possible sightings of hippo, elephant, buffalo, lion, wildebeest, and a range of plains wildlife. If water levels permit it is also possible to enjoy a wildlife boat trip.
The central area is an impressive three-story building overlooking the river and bush. The lodge is unfenced, so wildlife is frequently spotted in and around the lodge grounds. Within the lodge you will find the bar, a comfortable lounge and partially covered dining room. On the top floor there is a viewpoint that is the perfect place to keep a lookout for wildlife and relax in the peaceful and stunning surroundings. On the lower level is the plunge pool and sun loungers.
The 10 tented rooms, including a honeymoon tent with an outside bath and shower, and a family room with an additional twin room, are all raised on wooden stilts which gives them superb views of the surroundings and almost a tree house like feel. The rooms are fairly simple inside with a double bed, luggage area and wardrobe. Ensuite facilities include a washbasin, toilet, and shower and outside there is a lovely wooden deck with chairs and a coffee table.
