Gibbs Farm

Speke says – “This is our favourite for the area but bear in mind this level of accommodation comes at a cost. A stay here will often be two nights, with a pm arrival, in order to visit the Ngorongoro crater, but if time allows, then adding one or two additional nights is well worth considering, we couldn’t recommend it more.”

It is difficult to find a property in Tanzania that has so many accolades, awards and such good feedback as Gibbs Farm and few properties can claim to have a fully operational organic farm that provides for the vast majority of this beautiful hotels needs. The farm is made up of 30 acres of coffee, 10 acres of fruit and vegetables, five acres of flowers and herbs as well as a bakery, dairy and pig farm. You can even join in with the farming activities including milking the cows, feeding the pigs, harvesting vegetables, egg collecting, baking, and coffee processing. There is also a welcomed focus on wellness here with a range of treatments available. Within the traditional main farm building you will find a bar, restaurant and dining terrace as well as a local art gallery and boutique gift shop. Within the beautifully manicured gardens there is a wonderful swimming pool area with incredible views.

There are 17 standard farm cottages, and several two-bedroom houses, all dotted around the farm with views of either the gardens or the valley. All farm cottages are immediately calming and welcoming and are decorated to a high standard, and in keeping with the farmhouse style, and have local artwork adorning the walls. Within your cottage you will find either two queen sized or one king size bed, a living area, en-suite bathroom with a bath and outdoor shower, and a private terrace.
