Lake Manze Tented Camp
Speke says – “We absolutely love Lake Manze, this was one of the first camps in the park and as such has a very enviable location. The staff and safari guides are excellent, the food is good and hearty, and it is just a lovely place to have that feeling of being at one with nature.”

Arguably one of the best locations in the Selous, Lake Manze is located, as the name suggests, at the edge of a beautiful lake that all creatures great and small visit on a regular basis. This is a well established and permanent camp that offers walking, boat and driving safaris to explore this incredibly wild and authentic national park. While simple this is a very comfortable camp, with no frills, but always delivers a fantastic experience with many choosing to return again and again. The large central thatch building houses a lovely bar and lounge area, with electric charging points, that overlooks the lake and wildlife while the good home cooking style evening meals are served al-fresco by lantern light and campfire which is magical.
The 12 tents are very pleasant, all on stone platforms and all have a terrace with seating facing the lake that has the most wonderful views. Within your large tent you will have either a double or twin beds with en-suite facilities including a flushing toilet and outdoor shower. There is no electricity within the tent but each evening oil lamps are placed in the bathroom and terrace which give light through the night although you may want to pack a head torch. The tents here can also be modified to host families, adding an extra tented room on the veranda so this is a good option for families.
