Jongomero Camp

Speke says – “An excellent option for Ruaha. A high standard of accommodation with service and food to match and a very remote location, highly recommended.”

Jongomero has a remote location in Ruaha with it the norm not to see another vehicle while on game drives in the area. The camp is position on the banks of the seasonal Jongomero river which is a natural pathway for wildlife in search of water and a beautiful setting. The main lodge, a high roof wood and thatch construction, houses the bar, comfortable lounge with sofas, and dining area although meals are often served on the dry riverbed by candle and oil lamp which is a magical dining experience. Further facilities include a lovely swimming pool with great views of the riverbed.

Activities available here include game drives, walking safaris and fly camping accompanied by seasoned and excellent guides. Fly camping is a back to basics camping experience that is a basic but comfortable open-air tent away from the main camp, with a long drop toilet and bucket shower. Accompanied by a professional guide and small team you will be able to experience campfire cooking and a night well and truly under the stars – an experience which we highly recommend.

The eight large, tented suites, built on raised wooden platforms and under huge, thatched roofs are well equipped with bedside tables, electric lighting, a writing desk, and a super-king-sized bed. En-suite facilities include a flushing toilet, twin washbasins, and a walk-in shower. The room is finished with a decked veranda with comfortable seating to further enjoy the wonderful views.
