As the only lodge on the island there are no other options! Thankfully Rubondo Island camp is owned and operated by Asilia Tanzania, one of the best operators in Tanzania. There is certainly more of a lodge feel to the camp, with permanent structures rather than tents with the large central building, built above the beach and among the boulders and trees, is home to a number of comfortable lounge areas, viewing deck, activity briefing room, and a dining room although meals are often served al-fresco on the deck or the beach. Outside there is a large, decked veranda, among the trees, that looks out to the lake and then a few steps away you will find the small but very pleasant swimming pool. On the beach there is a firepit area as well as a number of comfortable chairs and set just back from the beach there are beautiful lawn areas that lead to the guest bedrooms.

Activities available here include game drives, catch and release fishing for Nile perch, boating, cultural visits, and nature walks as well as being part of the chimpanzee habituation programme which is an incredibly unique opportunity.

The eight beach cottages, including one family cottage, are all set along the beach with fantastic lake views. These are raised on stone platforms and come with either a double or twin beds, bedside tables with electric lighting and charging points, a writing desk and stool, and comfortable chairs. The large en-suite facilities come with a flushing toilet, twin basins and an indoor shower. A few steps from your room is a fantastic private outdoor double shower. The room is finished with a large, covered veranda with comfortable chairs and a coffee table, the perfect place to enjoy the views.
