Tarangire River Camp

Speke says – “Most options that we recommend for Tarangire are located within the park, which has advantages, but this certainly shouldn’t be dismissed. Apart from the excellent value for money, this is a lovely camp with a great homely feel and excellent facilities. We love it and have stayed several times ourselves.”

Overlooking a branch of the Tarangire River and perched high on a hill side with fantastic views of the park, Tarangire River Camp is a great option. Located just three kilometres from the park gate, and although this is an option that we would recommend for all, this camp would particularly suit those that like the idea of spending some time under canvas in the bush but with more of a permanent structure feel about it. The main lodge, a beautiful, thatched structure set on raised decking with stunning views, houses a large comfortable lounge and dining area. Just out of the main lodge there is a large, decked area where you will find a swimming pool with loungers and where you will often enjoy dinner in the open air, overlooking the riverbed.

There are a total of 20 rooms, 15 safari tents, one luxury safari tent and five family tents. The large safari tents, which come as twin or double configurations, are all built on elevated wooden platforms with private verandahs, en-suite bathrooms, and thatched roofs which keep the rooms nice and cool. The luxury safari tent is the same as the standard safari tents with the exception of a large, decked area with outdoor shower and bath which is amazing! Finally the family tents are larger with either one, two or three additional single beds to suite the size of the family.
