Rivertrees
- 3.5 Star
- Great year round
- Lovely quiet location with stunning gardens
Rivertrees was once a coffee plantation and country estate, and still retains that nostalgic air of a well-loved homestead. Set among 10 acres of lush greenery, that looks out towards Mount Kilimanjaro, this area has become a sanctuary for the birds and wildlife of the area. The main lodge houses a restaurant that serves an excellent range of home cooked style meals, as well as pizzas from the wood fired oven, with much of the ingredients coming from the lodge gardens. Within the gardens you will find winding pathways that lead to a lovely swimming pool and massage hut which is perfect for kicking off your shoes and relaxing.
There are a number of room categories, starting with the garden rooms. These are all a decent size and come with a private en-suite bathroom and verandah looking out onto the gardens. For those that prefer more privacy the river cottages would be perfect. These large cottages are set in forested thickets above the riverbank and are tastefully decorated in a homely farmhouse style with private en-suite bathrooms and a large private verandah. For families or groups there is also the two-bedroom river house and the original four-bedroom farmhouse.
