Mbuzi Mawe Camp

Speke Says – “This is a decent option in one of the best year-round wildlife viewing areas of the Serengeti and is reasonable value for money considering the size and comfort of the rooms. We can’t help thinking that the lodge could do with a facelift but never-the-less this is a still a good option, particularly for those that don’t want to go full-on mobile camping.”

Mbuzi Mawe is located within the Seronera region of the Serengeti which, is right in the center and a great launch pad for fantastic year-round wildlife viewing. The camp itself is located on top, and among, a boulder-laden hill surrounded by acacia and other flora – a very African setting! The main lodge, made of stone and canvas, houses a bar and large lounge area, with free WiFi, and a dining terrace just outside. Further facilities include a small gift shop and central fire-pit which is fantastic for pre-dinner drinks.

The large rooms here, of which there are 16 in total, all with free WiFi, are a cross between a tent and a permanent hotel room and certainly have a secure feel about them. These are built on a stone platform with a thatched roof and have two queen-sized beds inside as well as a relaxed seating area. The en-suite facilities include a flushing toilet and shower with 24-hour hot water. The room is finished with a private terrace with safari chairs and sun loungers to relax and enjoy the sweeping views.
