Olakira Migration Camp
- 4.5 Star
- Great year round
- Follows the migration around the Serengeti
Olakira migration camp follows the colossal herds of the migration as they journey around the Serengeti, so this is a great option to consider for both the south and north. Owned and operated by the fantastic Asilia Tanzania, the camp is packed up and moved twice a year to ensure you are in the best possible location. Olakira has a main lounge tent with comfortable furnishings, to relax and enjoy the wildlife from, and a dining tent for breakfast and lunch with evening meals often served outside under the stars. There is also a campfire area for pre and post-dinner drinks, the perfect place to unwind after your safari adventures of the day. This setup is very similar to that of Ubuntu Migration Camp, also owned and operated by Asilia.
Where Olakira is different are the tented rooms, nine in total including one family tent. These are huge with king-sized or twin beds and en-suite bathrooms with flushing toilets and hot-water bucket-style showers, but they also have a stargazing section of the tent. Simply roll your bed into the meshed area and enjoy a 270-degree view from beneath a net, offering you the best of the outdoors while remaining indoors. Drifting off to sleep and looking up at the stunning African night sky with the gentle sounds of the bush is a magical experience. During the day this serves perfectly as a relaxation area while you are not of safari.
